The story of the 2024 college football season was written by the Ohio State Buckeyes and a litany of extremely talented players on other teams. Ashton Jeanty had a historic running back season. Cam Ward transferred to Miami and had the best quarterback season in school history. Abdul Carter made a name for himself as a freak of nature.
All three of those players are expecting hear their name called early in the 2025 NFL Draft. But it may be Travis Hunter who goes before all of them. The two-way star who did things never seen before as an elite cornerback and wide receiver won the Heisman Trophy for his incredible efforts. Considered a generational prospect, it will be hard for any team to pass on him, even if they have needs at quarterback or pass-rusher.
Given how impressive Hunter is at both of his positions, there has been discourse for months about what his main position will be in the NFL, as well as whether he will be allowed to play both. Football fans and analysts have endlessly argued about it. Although you would expect actual NFL front offices to have it figured out, that’s not exactly the case.
Tennessee Titans and Cleveland Browns can’t decide which position Travis Hunter should play
During a media day on Tuesday, NFL general managers from some of the top teams in the NFL Draft were asked about Hunter. Two of them gave contradiciting answers.
Mike Borgonzi of the Tennessee Titans and Andrew Berry of the Cleveland Browns don’t agree on what Hunter’s main position should be.
The Titans and Browns have the first two picks in the draft, so those comments are extremely valuable. It goes to show that Hunter is truly a unique prospect, but also one who comes with a bit of risk if he lands with a coaching staff that doesn’t use him correctly.
