Travis Hunter’s fiancée leaves her troubled past behind; she’s ready to shine again after a long hiatus

Travis Hunter‘s fiancée, Leanna Lenee, is stepping back into the spotlight with courage, leaving a painful past behind just in time for their May 2025 wedding. The Colorado Buffaloes star and Heisman winner, who was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars, has been by Lenee’s side through a rollercoaster of public scrutiny.

Lenee took a long social media hiatus after facing backlash, including a viral November 2024 video from Hunter’s last game at Colorado, where she appeared to pull away from his kiss, looking “uncomfortable,” per College Transfer Portal. “The internet can be brutal,” an X user noted, highlighting the online bullying Lenee endured.

The criticism peaked after Hunter’s Heisman win in December 2024, with fans taunting Lenee over her lackluster ceremony reaction and alleged absence from the Alamo Bowl. “Leanna continued to receive taunts,” EssentiallySports reported, noting how the couple silenced noise by reappearing together post-bowl game, spotted heading home on January 7, 2025.

Lenee’s break was a response to the hate-she and Hunter deleted their social media accounts to escape the drama. “Hunter fell victim to exactly that shadow side of social media,” an X user commented, pointing to the toll it took on their relationship.

Lenee back after painful social media break

But Lenee’s back, showing resilience as she gears up to marry Hunter, who proposed in February 2024. “Travis Hunter considers Coach Sanders nothing short of a father figure,” EssentiallySports shared, tying Hunter’s growth to Deion Sanders’ mentorship at Colorado, where he racked up 1,152 receiving yards in 2024.

Lenee’s return isn’t just about social media-she’s embracing a fresh start, leaving behind the pain of public judgment. “She’s ready to move forward,” a source close to the couple told, emphasizing her focus on their future.

Hunter, now 21, has always defended Lenee-he stood by her during the Heisman hoopla. Their love story, which began at Colorado, has weathered storms, including Hunter’s brutal 2024 injury against Kansas State that briefly tanked his draft stock.

“The couple got engaged last February and are set to get married in May 2025,” Sporting News confirmed, marking a new chapter. Lenee’s courage to return publicly-despite past shade like fans analyzing her game-day reactions-shows her strength as she prepares to become Mrs. Hunter, with the NFL rookie by her side.
