Travis Hunter refuses to bow to pressure as he makes offer to NFL teams if they want to sign him

Travis Hunter isn’t interested in compromise when it comes to his NFL future. The Colorado standout, who captivated fans throughout the 2024 college football season with his two-way dominance, is making it known that he expects to continue playing on both sides of the ball once he reaches the professional level.

Hunter, who recently claimed the Heisman Trophy thanks to his standout performances at both cornerback and wide receiver, told Sirius XM Radio that he’s not backing away from his rare ambition.

When asked whether he’ll have to choose one position in the NFL, Hunter was adamant: “I want to play both sides. I don’t want to pick just one,” he said.

Some NFL executives have voiced concern about the feasibility of a full-time two-way player at the pro level.

The physical demands, film study requirements, and fast-paced nature of the NFL have often forced even the most versatile athletes to specialize. But Hunter believes he’s different.

A full-time football mindset

The 21-year-old’s dedication to mastering both roles is clear. In his interview, Hunter emphasized that he’s prepared to use every available moment to study, train, and prepare.

“Well, we kind of got 24 hours in a day. We probably sleep for about eight of those, so we probably got 16 more. All of them dedicated to football,” he said.

That single-minded focus could be what separates him from others who have tried and failed to do the same.

Hunter played more than 100 snaps in several games last season, showcasing elite athleticism, sharp instincts, and playmaking ability both as a corner and a receiver.

His performance not only helped elevate Colorado’s profile but also made him a projected top-three pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. The conversation surrounding Hunter echoes past debates around two-way players.

NFL legend Deion Sanders, who coached Hunter at Colorado, famously played both cornerback and wide receiver – and even juggled professional football and baseball. Now, one of his most gifted protégés could be following a similar path.

With the 2025 NFL Draft approaching, teams interested in drafting Hunter must be prepared to support his vision.

He’s not just bringing talent – he’s bringing expectations, too. And any franchise that selects him will need to be ready to let him thrive on both sides of the ball.
