Travis Hunter Family: Meet the Parents and Siblings of the Heisman Trophy Winner

The NFL Draft is getting closer and teams have analyzed in detail each of the prospects they are interested in acquiring. One of the college players who has caught the eye is Travis Hunter, winner of the 2024 Heisman Trophy, who has shown generational talent where he became the first multi-functional player on both defense and offense since Charles Woodson in 1997.

If his record is added to the Chuck Bednarik and Fred Biletnikoff awards, his dominance speaks for itself. Currently, with the 2025 NFL Draft approaching, Hunter is not only rising, but is shooting to the top where his qualities as a cornerback and wide receiver are very interesting elements. But what about the family of this great NFL Draft prospect?

Travis Hunter Jr.’s father is a support in his sporting life.

Talent in an athlete is innate, but it is also occasionally influenced by family legacy. Travis has the influence of his father Travis Hunter Sr, a prominent figure in athletics during his time at Boynton Beach High School, who lit up the track with an impressive 10.82 in the 100 meters and in the 4×100 relay team where he broke local records.

His speed was an important factor in bringing him to football, earning him the SSFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award. Although Hunter Sr. was not at the Heisman Trophy Awards Ceremony, his support has been instrumental. The reason he was absent was because he served a 90-day sentence at the Palm Beach County West Detention Center for an arrest in 2023.

Inspiration in the success of Travis Hunter Jr

His mother, Ferrante Edmonds, has been his biggest cheerleader and strongest guide. At the 2024 Heisman Trophy ceremony, Ferrante sat in the center, beaming, alongside her son’s fiancee, Leanna Lenee. Although her presence said it all, her words were even more impactful. In an interview with Holly Rowe on ESPN College Football, she confidently stated that she always knew her son was worthy of the Heisman, win or lose. So far, Ferrante’s unwavering conviction, emotional strength and love have been the driving force behind Travis Jr’s path to greatness. No doubt.

However, Travis Hunter’s love for his mother runs deep, and he is not ashamed to show it. Thanks to his success in NIL, he made one of his biggest dreams come true: buying his mother a new home in Savannah, Georgia. “We just bought my mom a house. We’re going to surprise her,” Hunter wrote in an emotional video. To be honest, it wasn’t just a gift; it was a key moment: a son giving back to the woman who has supported him from day one.
