Travis Hunter and one detail not overlooked after he married Leanna Lenee prior to NFL debut with Jaguars

As Travis Hunter prepares to launch his professional football career with the Jacksonville Jaguars, he’s also stepping into a new chapter of his personal life.

The No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft is set to marry his longtime partner, Leanna Lenee, this weekend in Chattanooga, Tennessee-a decision that’s turning as many heads as his on-field highlights.

While most rookie contracts come with legal counsel and clauses to protect newly minted millionaires, Hunter has opted to forego a prenuptial agreement. It’s a decision rooted not in oversight, but in confidence-both in his partner and in the life they’ve built together since 2022.

No prenup, no problem

Hunter‘s decision to marry now, just weeks after the draft, has sparked both curiosity and criticism. But to those close to him, this isn’t a surprise-it’s a continuation of a long-held plan.

“I’m going to marry her once my NFL career starts,” he declared last year. And now, with a four-year, $35 million rookie contract in hand, he’s following through.

Podcast host Jeff Barnes recently shed light on the couple’s dynamic during an episode of “Smoke Somethin, Drink Somethin.”

Speaking on the emotional grounding Hunter finds in Leanna, Barnes said, “As long as she provides Travis Hunter what Travis Hunter wants, which is stability… he feels he plays his maximum football because she is beside him.”

Hunter and Leanna‘s relationship has weathered public scrutiny before. From her visible support during his Heisman Trophy campaign to her presence on NFL Draft night, Leanna has stood beside him during every major moment.

In return, Hunter has shown his trust in profound ways-including reportedly turning down a prenup.

Barnes further explained the quarterback’s mindset: “It’s not about her, it’s about him… The real prenup is knowing you’re not restricted. That she empowers him, not limits him.”

The couple’s upcoming ceremony will also include a deeply personal moment-Hunter‘s father, previously incarcerated, is expected to attend following a favorable court ruling. It adds an emotional weight to an already significant day, underscoring just how much this milestone means to the 22-year-old star.

Hunter’s background-marked by financial instability and personal challenges-has shaped the value he places on emotional security.

As one of the most hyped players entering the NFL this season, the weight of expectation could be enormous. Yet he’s betting that the same personal consistency that elevated him in college will continue to serve him in the pros.

Beyond the vows and celebrations, this weekend represents something deeper for Travis Hunter. It’s about cementing a foundation of loyalty, trust, and shared ambition. Whether critics agree or not, Hunter is charting his course-on his terms.

And as he takes the field this fall in Jaguars colors, one thing is clear: he’s not just fighting for touchdowns-he’s building a future, and he’s bringing his biggest supporter along for the ride.
