Travis Hunter and his wife, Leanna Lenee, have drawn in recent weeks thanks to whispers of marital breakdown, but the couple shifted the narrative by announcing the adoption of a kitten.
Adding a new presence to their household essentially ends the divorce rumors in their tracks for the Jacksonville Jaguars’ wide receiver and his wife, whom he only married earlier in 2025 after winning the Heisman Trophy.
The decision to adopt was documented on social media, where both partners shared moments from the process of choosing their new pet, in stark contrast to rumors that Lenee was “unhappy”.
Reports from Hindustan Times have already clarified that such claims are unfounded, but the speculation has continued to follow the newlyweds, and now it seems as though they are completely baseless.
Hunter and Lenee‘s relationship has moved quickly since they began dating, becoming engaged in February 2025 and married just three months later, weeks after the former was selected second in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Their relationship has often been marked by public expressions of affection, including expensive gifts. The NFL rookie presented his woman with a Tesla Model X and a custom Mercedes-Benz AMG G63 BRABUS 800, while she surprised him with a Ram truck for his 22nd birthday.
This now seems to be another gesture of love between the pair and perhaps the start of beginning to work out if they can raise children together by testing their coparenting bond with a kitten, which will become an adult in around one year.
Travis Hunter injury: Will the Jacksonville Jaguars star play in Week 1?
Off the field, the adoption of a kitten provides a lighthearted subplot to what is shaping up to be a demanding rookie season for Hunter as he arrives in Jacksonville carrying high expectations.
His standout season with the Colorado Buffaloes included 1258 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns, coupled with elite defensive play at cornerback, allowed him to win the Heisman and emerge as a frontrunner in the NFL Draft.
Jacksonville eventually landed him and intend to maximize his impact on offense, pairing him with quarterback Trevor Lawrence, who is aiming for a bounce-back campaign after injuries disrupted his 2024 season.
Hunter‘s versatility and star potential make him a cornerstone of the franchise’s rebuild, as Jacksonville seeks to reestablish itself in the AFC playoff race. Yet injury concerns remain a storyline.
On August 15, Travis was held out of practice with what his head coach described as an “upper body injury”, a precautionary move, but one that leaves his status uncertain for upcoming preseason games against the New Orleans Saints and Miami Dolphins.
Given his ambitions to contribute on both sides of the ball, the Jaguars are expected to manage his workload carefully and he should be good to go in Week 1 of the 2025/26 NFL season.
