Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young is one of the most exciting players in the NBA and a shining star in the league.

The former Oklahoma Sooners standout leads the league in point/assist double-doubles (31) and 30-point, 10-assist outings (10), while leading the East Conference in 20-point, 10-assist outings (22, second-most in NBA).

His impressive numbers earned him a spot as an injury replacement on Team Chuck in the 2025 NBA All-Star Game, replacing Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, the “Greek Freak“. Without a doubt, “Ice Trae” left a lasting impression

Trae Young shakes defenders and make them look silly

Trae Young only played 5 minutes in the All-Star game, recording 2 rebounds and 2 assists. However, he had one of the highlights of the game when he put defenders on skates, and not just any rivals: Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry,Dallas Mavericks guard Kyrie Irving, and Los Angeles Clippers guard James Harden.

First, Young restarted the game by throwing the ball into Irvin’s back. The Mavericks guard wasn’t expecting that at all and by the time he wanted to guard Trae, it was too late. Secondly, the Hawks guard dribble the ball through Curry’s leg, who never had a chance to stop Young.

“Ice Trae” finished the play by getting past Clippers Harden while making a no look pass to San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama, who dunked the ball with ease. The play got the fans wilding out and the TV commentators praising Young’s ability to make defenders look like fools.

Trae Young has an impressive career so far

Trae Young is the 10th Atlanta Hawk in franchise history to earn an All-Star selection four times, joining Paul Millsap (4x), Al Horford (4x), Joe Johnson (6x), Dikembe Mutombo (4x), Dominique Wilkins (9x), Lou Hudson (6x), Lenny Wilkens (5x), Bob Pettit (11x), and Cliff Hagan (5x).

He is the only player in the NBA averaging more than 11.0 assists per game, 1.1 assists more than the next closest player in the league (Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic: 10.3) and 1.9 more than the next closest Eastern Conference player (Detroit Pistons guard Cade Cunningham: 9.5).

The 26-year-old guard, who has dished out a league-best 560 assists this season (the only player in the league with at least 500 helpers), has recorded 500-or-more assists for the seventh straight season.

He joins Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall-of-Famers Oscar Robertson, Isiah Thomas, and Tim Hardaway, in addition to two-time NBA Champion and Macon, Georgia, native, Norm Nixon as just the fifth player in NBA history to tally 500+ assists in each of his first seven NBA seasons.
