Tour Championship 2025 Prize Money: Here’s the record-breaking purse awarded to the players

The PGA Tour season reaches its thrilling conclusion at the 2025 Tour Championship, held at the iconic East Lake Golf Club, where the top 30 players in the FedEx Cup standings compete for the ultimate title under a revamped format and an unprecedented prize purse.

This year introduces a major shift: the elimination of the “starting strokes” format, where the FedEx Cup leader used to begin the tournament with a score advantage of up to 10 under par. Now, all players start at even par, ensuring a fairer and more exciting competition over 72 holes.

Historic Prize Pool Officially Announced

The tournament boasts a $40 million purse, the largest official prize fund in golf history. In contrast to past editions, where a significant portion of the money came as unofficial bonuses or deferred payments, all payouts this year count as official earnings.

The winner will take home a staggering $10 million, the highest single payout currently offered on the PGA Tour.

Prize Distribution for Top Finishers

  • 1st $10,000,000
  • 2nd $5,000,000
  • 3rd $3,705,000
  • 4th $3,200,000
  • 5th $2,750,000
  • 6th $1,900,000
  • 7th $1,400,000
  • 8th $1,065,000
  • 9th $900,000
  • 10th $735,000

The rest of the field is also rewarded handsomely, with payouts ranging from $695,000 for 11th place down to $355,000 for the final finisher, guaranteeing that every player walks away with a substantial reward.

Why it matters

Beyond the record-setting prize money, the tournament serves as a final test for players ahead of the 2025 Ryder Cup team selection, adding another layer of pressure and motivation.

In short, the 2025 Tour Championship sets a new benchmark: fairer competition, record-breaking official payouts, and a structure that ensures generous rewards across the board. This season finale is already historic – both for its format and its financial stakes.
