The world of boxing started with bad news after it was announced on Monday that fighter Tony Rodriguez had died after a fight in Arizona, United States, and was later found dead in his hotel room.

It was through social media that the news was made known of someone who, in addition to living a life in the ring, also worked at the Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (IMSS)

What happened to Tony Rodriguez?

Last Saturday, Tony Rodriguez had a fight in Arizona against American boxer Phillipe Vella. After the fight, which was scheduled for six rounds and which he lost, he returned to his hotel where he was later found dead.

So far there is no official version on the causes of Tony Rodriguez’s death, while the authorities are already carrying out the pertinent investigations, but it was learned that after the fight he returned to his hotel where he had arranged to go out to dinner with several companions who were also on the card but never went down to the hotel lobby

It was not until the next morning that they noticed something strange, especially after the van arrived to take the pugilists to the airport when they saw that Tony did not respond to the call to his room and did not come down, until the hotel staff had to enter the room and discovered that he was dead.

Tony Rodriguez’s career numbers

It is worth noting that the boxer was born in Durango and at the time of his death he was 3 years old and his career in the ring was not going through its best moment as he had lost his last seven fights in a row, including Saturday’s defeat to Philippe Vella, who is only 21 years old.
