Tommy Fury warns Jake Paul about his upcoming fights and does not rule out a rematch: “There is a lot of history”

Two years after their first encounter, Tommy Fury is raising expectations of a rematch with Jake Paul. In recent statements, the British boxer hinted that a second chapter could take place in 2025, although it is not in his immediate plans. The original fight, held in February 2023 in Saudi Arabia, was a watershed moment for both fighters.

Fury, who took a split decision victory in an eight-round contest, was the only one to defeat Paul in his professional career. Although he was knocked down in the final round, the Briton managed to prevail with greater technical dominance, which sparked months of speculation about an eventual reunion in the ring.

Fury criticizes the level of Jake Paul’s opponents

In his appearance on the podcast The Good, The Bad & The Beast, Fury spoke unfiltered about his view of Jake Paul’s present. “It’s OK, Jake may have been more active than me lately, but you can’t get better fighting 60-year-old men,” he said, in direct reference to the fight between Paul and Mike Tyson, scheduled for this year when the former champion is already 58 years old.

Fury also pointed out that he is not looking for that fight, but that the possibility remains open. “I don’t care who you are. At 60, you’re not who you used to be,” he said, criticizing the type of opponents the American has faced. “For him to get better, he needs fights like the ones he had with me. It’s his fault. I’m not going to look for the fight,” said the Briton.

The possibility of a second round remains alive

Pressed to mention who he would like to fight again, Fury had no hesitation in putting Jake Paul’s name on the table. “I think the fight with Jake Paul… will always be there because there’s a lot of history with that fight,” he said, acknowledging that, beyond the differences, a rematch remains attractive to both sides.

Although he hinted that Paul might have more recent activity, Fury was confident of repeating the result if they face each other again. “It makes sense for both parties,” he said. And he added ironically: “I have no doubt where I will get in the ring with Jake Paul and I think he will beat me,” making it clear that, if it happens, he will be ready.

The rivalry between Jake Paul and Tommy Fury remains latent, sustained by the unresolved tension of their first fight and the interest of the public. While Paul prepares for his return to the ring against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, Fury is waiting for his next step without completely closing the door on a rematch. Two years after the first clash, the story between them seems to have even more to tell.
