Tommy Fury and Molly-Mae Hague’s breakup helped them become better than ever: Here’s how their relationship changed dramatically

Tommy Fury has opened up about one of the most painful chapters of his life, revealing how his relationship with Molly-Mae Hague fell apart.

The 26-year-old boxer and reality TV star, who shares two-year-old daughter Bambi with the influencer, said that he and Molly-Mae are now in a much better place, describing their current dynamic as “the happiest we’ve ever been.”

The couple’s split in August last year came as a shock to fans, especially after their 2023 engagement.

But it was during their separation that Fury says he hit rock bottom, prompting a major reckoning with himself and his life choices.

Speaking ahead of the release of his new BBC Three docuseries Tommy: The Good. The Bad. The Fury., he admitted that a series of setbacks, including a hand injury, spiraled into depression, heavy drinking, and ultimately the breakdown of his home life.

“The injury caused a lot of problems in my life, both inside and outside the ring,” Fury shared. “But I’ve come so far and I’ve done a full turn.

“I’ve gone from having nothing in my life: to living in a house alone, going through the toughest time of my life.

“To now having everything back and feeling myself again. I’m back in the gym and back training. I’m back in shape. My family’s there and I’ve come full circle. I couldn’t be any happier.”

Search for a private life

One of the biggest changes for the couple moving forward is a vow to keep their private life just that. Fury said they’ve both grown tired of living every moment in the spotlight.

“So, in terms of my family life, everything is private now between me and Molly, and we’re in the happiest place possible. And that’s all that anyone needs to know,” he said.

“Everyone’s entitled to a private life and so right now we’re going to live our private life, because we haven’t had that since we were 19 or 20 years old.

It’s all been lived out in front of a camera or on the front page of a newspaper. So now, going forward, we’re finally going to take that private time.”

In the first episode of the docuseries, Fury gets candid about how his struggles with alcohol contributed to Molly’s decision to walk away.

His father and longtime trainer, John Fury, also appears, revealing that he even encouraged Molly-Mae to leave in order to jolt Tommy into making real changes.

Fury, reflecting on that painful time, admitted, “I mean, I probably would’ve walked away from me too.”

“It was a tough moment in my life, but everything happens for a reason. I’m not happy that I went through that, but I’m grateful for the lessons that I’ve learned, and I don’t think I would’ve known half of what I know about myself if I never went through that.”
