The Los Angeles Dodgers secured a narrow 5-4 victory over the Detroit Tigers in the first game of the 2025 MLB season at Dodger Stadium.

In the 7th inning, the Dodgers were on the attack when the score was 4-3 in favor of the home team, and it was the turn of superstar Shohei Ohtani, who hit a tremendous home run all over the left field that left several surprised and even the celebrities present, such as Tom Hanks and Rob Lowe, celebrated with great enthusiasm, as can be seen in the video.

Even celebrities bow down to Ohtani

World-famous celebrities were at Dodger Stadium on Opening Day of the Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Detroit Tigers game when Ohtani stepped up to the plate in the bottom of the seventh inning at Dodger Stadium.

Facing Tigers right-hander Brenan Hanifee, Ohtani worked the count full, and then Hanifee threw a 95 mph sinker that caught too much of the plate. Ohtani proceeded to smash the ball the other way for an imposing opposite-field home run.

ESPN’s broadcast focused on Oscar-winning actor Tom Hanks, whose expression of amazement said it all. Fellow actor Rob Lowe looked equally stunned. Then there was Magic Johnson, a member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, who could only smile as he high-fived those sitting near him.

Ohtani’s home run was his second of the year, the first coming in front of his home crowd in Japan during the Tokyo Series. The Dodgers superstar went 2-for-4 with a home run and a pair of runs scored in the Dodgers’ 5-4 win over Detroit.
