Tom Brady’s bizarre compliment highlights Bucky Irving’s agility

During the Tampa Bay Buccaneers‘ 31-25 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on September 28, 2025, former Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady offered an unconventional compliment to current running back Bucky Irving.

As the game unfolded, Brady, now a FOX analyst, observed Irving‘s swift movements and remarked, “He is so twitchy that if he had Doritos on his feet, they would never break.”

This analogy, unusual as it was, quickly gained attention on social media platforms, with fans and analysts alike discussing the unique comparison.

The comment, however, highlighted Irving’s impressive footwork and quickness, traits that have become a hallmark of his playing style.

Irving’s performance in the game

Tampa Bay‘s offense struggled in the first half but found rhythm in the second, thanks in large part to second-year running back Bucky Irving.

Despite the Buccaneers‘ defeat, Irving showcased his skills on the field. He led the team in receiving yards, catching five passes for 102 yards and securing a touchdown, a 72-yard reception from quarterback Baker Mayfield.

Irving‘s performance was a bright spot in an otherwise challenging game for the Buccaneers.

His ability to make defenders miss and contribute both in the air and on the ground showcased his versatility and potential as a key offensive weapon.

Eagles’ early lead and special teams play prove decisive

Philadelphia‘s success was built on a strong first half, where they capitalized on Tampa Bay’s mistakes.

A blocked punt returned for a touchdown by Sydney Brown gave the Eagles an early lead. Quarterback Jalen Hurts was efficient, completing 15 of 16 passes and connecting with tight end Dallas Goedert for two touchdowns.

Running back Saquon Barkley added a touchdown on a 6-yard run, contributing to the Eagles’ commanding halftime advantage.

Despite being held scoreless in the second half, Philadelphia’s defense and special teams maintained their lead, with key plays ensuring the victory.

Buccaneers’ missed opportunities and momentum shift

Tampa Bay‘s second-half surge was marred by missed opportunities. A critical fumble by Irving, just before being down by contact, led to Philadelphia‘s first takeaway and shifted momentum back in the Eagles’ favor.

Additionally, a late interception by linebacker Jihaad Campbell thwarted the Buccaneers‘ final drive, sealing their first loss of the season.

Despite the loss, Tampa Bay’s resilience and offensive adjustments in the second half were commendable.

The performance of Bucky Irving, in particular, provided a silver lining and a glimpse of the team’s potential moving forward.

Buccaneers prepare for seahawks

With a 3-1 record, the Buccaneers now turn their attention to a Week 5 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks. Seattle, also 3-1, has been strong defensively and will present a formidable challenge for Tampa Bay.

The Buccaneers will need to build on their second-half performance, minimize mistakes, and continue to utilize Irving’s talents to remain competitive in the NFC South.
