Tom Brady rips into Dallas Cowboys after Chicago Bears humilation

Tom Brady did not hold back in his assessment of the Dallas Cowboys’ defensive performance during their Week 3 matchup against the Chicago Bears after a disappointing 31-14 defeat.

Dak Prescott and his boys have endured a tough start to the season that included a 37-point concession to the New York Giants, and now Dallas allowed the previously winless Bears to dominate on Sunday, September 21.

The Cowboys struggled to contain Chicago’s passing attack, surrendering 385 total yards, including 298 through the air. A porous defense, combined with inconsistent pass rush and ineffective coverage, left the team exposed throughout the contest.

“There’s not enough guys in the rush, and certainly no coverage,” Brady said. “Another wide open receiver.

“Matt Eberflus is just looking for answers over there. Not rushing well, not covering well, not knowing their way on defense.”

Caleb Williams dazzles as Bears dismantle Cowboys

Brady also highlighted the performance of Bears quarterback Caleb Williams, who demonstrated command, composure, and creativity in what may have been the 23-year-old’s breakout moment.

The second-year quarterback completed 19 of 29 passes for 298 yards, tied a career-high with four touchdown passes, and added 12 rushing yards on five carries. His synergy with offensive coordinator Ben Johnson enabled Chicago to repeatedly exploit Dallas’ defensive weaknesses.

One play in particular captured Brady’s attention – a 65-yard flea-flicker from Williams to rookie wide receiver Luther Burden III that left the seven-time Super Bowl winner audibly impressed.

“Oh my God! Ben Johnson and his bag of tricks…” Brady said. “Here’s Burden at the top… he lollies off the ball… as soon as you feel that safety settle his feet, you take off.

“How about that throw? Basically flat-footed. That’s a lolly, get everyone to safety… A seven route to the corner of the end zone. They drafted Burden for his speed. Caleb Williams for his arm.”

Brady’s breakdown emphasized how Chicago’s offense combined high-level execution with clever design, while the Cowboys lacked answers on defense.

Despite his praise for Chicago, Brady didn’t let Dallas off the hook – criticizing the unit’s lack of intensity and failure to cover basic responsibilities.

Dallas Cowboys set for Week 4 Micah Parsons reunion

The Cowboys’ inability to compete against both elite and struggling teams alike has fueled concerns about their playoff credentials – especially after the controversial decision to trade away star pass rusher Micah Parsons.

Their next test comes in Week 4 when they host the Green Bay Packers, a team also looking to rebound after their first loss of the season. But the spotlight will be on Parsons, who returns to AT&T Stadium in a Packers uniform.

Kick-off is scheduled for 20:20 ET / 17:20 PT on Sunday, September 28. Parsons, who previously led Dallas in sacks, now has the chance to line up opposite Prescott – and possibly add to the Cowboys’ growing list of headaches.
