Tom Brady insists on son Jack and basketball: He’s ready to play at Michigan

Tom Brady recently made headlines not for Super Bowl rings, but for celebrating his eldest son Jack‘s basketball prowess and hinting at a potential future at his alma mater, the University of Michigan.

On his 48th birthday, Brady shared Instagram Stories highlighting Jack’s impressive athletic ability, complete with a bold tagline that read “Future Wolverine,” directly tagging Michigan Men’s Basketball.

Brady‘s post featured two striking video clips: one of Jack dunking aboard the family yacht, and another of him draining shots on the court at their Miami home.

Over one clip, Brady captioned, “He got game. Future Wolverine,” sending a clear message about the trajectory he envisions for his son.

Despite being best known for his unparalleled football legacy, Brady has been candid about Jack’s path.

Speaking to People last year, he said: “Yeah, he played this last year, and I don’t even know if he’s going to play next year. And to be honest, whatever he chooses, I’ll be very happy. But he loves lacrosse… basketball’s probably his favorite sport, but he’s a very good student,” emphasizing that Jack’s happiness comes first, even if Michigan becomes part of the picture.

Basketball over football: A shift in direction for Jack

Tom Brady’s fatherly support underscores a shift: Jack, who previously played football, first as quarterback and later safety, appears to be gravitating toward basketball as his primary sport.

At around 6-foot-4, his size and court presence are already drawing attention, and Brady is clearly showcasing those attributes to the Michigan program.

On social media, Brady‘s presentation of Jack’s skill set was deliberate and public, clearly signaling to observers and potential recruiters alike. The Miami clips and the accompanying captions suggest a subtle recruiting nudge: “He got game … Future Wolverine.”

It’s not just fandom, it could be the start of Brady‘s latest legacy at Michigan-but this time via hardwood instead of a football field.

As Michigan continues to build its program, having a recruit with Brady’s extraordinary profile could bring immediate attention, on and off the court.

In the past, Brady has actively shown support for Michigan basketball, even FaceTiming potential recruits and alumni athletes. Now, the possibility of his son joining the program brings things full circle for the Wolverines legend.

While Brady’s football legacy is already cemented, his role as a father now stands at the forefront.

The emphasis on Jack‘s choice, whether lacrosse, basketball, or another path, reflects his commitment to letting his son find his own passion. But Brady‘s Illinois roots and long-standing bond with Michigan mean any hint toward the Wolverines carries considerable weight.

If Jack pursues basketball at Michigan, the dynamic shifts: a storied football alum returning for a different sport, through the next generation.

It may still be early in Jack’s athletic journey, but his talent, his father’s vision, and Michigan’s allure are already weaving a compelling narrative, one that Brady himself has publicly and proudly begun to tell.
