Tom Brady ignores security advice, provokes thieves by continuing to show off his expensive watches

Tom Brady appears unfazed by increasing concerns over celebrity-targeted theft as the seven-time Super Bowl champion continues flaunting his multimillion-dollar watch collection across social media and public events.

Many high-profile figures have toned down their public displays of wealth in response to past incidents, especially athletes following raids at the Kansas City Chiefs‘ Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce‘s properties by bandits.

Yet the ex-New England Patriot doesn’t seem to be adopting many risk-aversion strategies as he showcased a new addition to his vast collection: A black and gold Patek Philippe Geneve watch valued at approximately $1,007,864.

The luxury timepiece was featured in a casual social media post, as Brady picked up a rental car, seemingly indifferent to the high value of what was strapped to his wrist.

His public flaunting of wealth contrasts sharply with the cautionary measures adopted by other celebrities. For example, Kelce beefed up home security to protect Taylor Swift after being targeted.

Along with the Chiefs pair, the Cincinnati Bengals‘ Joe Burrow and NBA players were also targeted whilst in Europe, the Formula 1 driver, Charles Leclerc, chased down thieves in his Ferrari 488 Pista Spider in Italy.

The change in protection comes after the armed robbery of Kim Kardashian in Paris, France, where five armed men disguised as police officers broke into her hotel room and stole roughly $6 million in jewellery. It left the billionaire terrified.

In the wake of that 2016 Paris heist, Kardashian’s sister Kendall bolstered her security detail, as did Gigi Hadid, who began appearing at fashion shows surrounded by bodyguards.

Brady, however, has continued to embrace visibility. During this year’s Super Bowl broadcast with FOX Sports, he was spotted wearing a Jacob & Co. Caviar Tourbillon watch featuring a 49-carat yellow sapphire, reportedly worth $740,000.

His penchant for high-end watches has extended to his family as well. Prior to this year’s Super Bowl, Brady gifted his son Benjamin a Jacob & Co. ‘Billionaire Mini Ashoka’ timepiece, valued at over $3 million. It could have made the 15-year-old a prime target.

Thieves charged in $2 million burglary spree targeting NFL and NBA players

Federal authorities have charged seven men in connection with a series of high-value burglaries targeting professional athletes across the United States. The suspects allegedly stole more than $2 million worth of luxury goods from the homes of NFL and NBA players in a coordinated crime wave.

Identified as Chilean nationals aged between 23 and 38 years old, the accused are believed to be members of a South American theft ring that strategically targeted high-profile athletes.

Those named in the filing include Pablo Zuniga Cartes, Ignacio Zuniga Cartes, Bastian Jimenez Freraut, Jordan Quiroga Sanchez, Bastian Orellano Morales, Alexander Huiaguil Chavez, and Sergio Ortega Cabello, who all face a decade behind bars.

The group is accused of orchestrating multiple burglaries that saw them loot safes, jewelry, luxury watches, cash, and designer bags, with the total value of stolen goods exceeding $1.5 million.

Experts have noted that professional athletes are particularly vulnerable to such crimes due to their predictable travel schedules and the high value of items often kept in their homes.

Security professionals warn that publicly available game times and social media posts can make it easier for criminal groups to plan their break-ins.
