Tom Brady gets nervous recalling phone call with Shedeur Sanders amid Raiders interest uncertainty

Tom Brady is adapting to his role as a Las Vegas Raiders minority owner, as the greatest quarterback of all time looks to take the AFC West team to its fourth Super Bowl in franchise history and the first in the new millenium.

The lead NFL analyst for Fox hopes to inject the Raiders with some of the knowledge he got during his 23 seasons played in the league, with 10 Super Bowl appearances and seven championship wins.

“Throughout my NFL career, I’ve learned that at its core, football is a game of teamwork, resilience, and a relentless pursuit of excellence. The Raiders franchise, and the city of Las Vegas embody these same values, and I’m honored to become part of that story,” Brady said when he learned that the NFL approved of his limited role with the franchise.

Brady gets nervous recalling phone call with Shedeur

Tom Brady was the latest guest on the “Impaulsive” podcast with Logan Paul as he talked about his NFL career, what it takes to be the greatest of all time, and of course, about Shedeur Sanders getting passed by all 32 teams at least once in the 2025 NFL Draft, including Las Vegas Raiders.

When he was asked about it, Brady got nervous before he answered and he even stutter, which is something rare to see in a public personality that’s pretty outspoken. “I mean, there is, I, I, is a good question, I wasn’t part of any evaluation process,” Tom answered. He was expected to have a voice in the Raiders‘ quarterback selection process this offseason, but not on the Shedeur Sanders conversation within the Las Vegas team.

Regardless of how much Brady was involved in the Raiders‘ quarterback evaluation process, Las Vegas decided to pass on Sanders seven times. Even the Cleveland Browns, who eventually ended Shedeur Sanders’ slide in the fifth round, passed on him six times, including when they drafted fellow rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel in Round 3.

Brady’s advice to Sanders: Use it as motivation

“Use it as motivation. Wherever you end up going, it’s about your performance. What do you do when you get there?”. Brady noted that, along with being a sixth-round pick himself, he played with many excellent late-round or undrafted players, including Rodney Harrison, Julian Edelman, Wes Welker and Danny Amendola.

“What does it matter other than some overhyped day, where people are selling stories, and saying ‘Alright, this is the big day, and this is the draft?’ ” he said. “And it’s an important day, and it’s fun, and I love watching it and seeing it. But I’ve actually been there on Day 2 when they have to show up and actually learn a playbook, learn to be a part of a locker room. There is a lot of growth that needs to happen,” he added.

Brady‘s advice for Sanders is to win over the locker room with his work ethic. “He’s gotta show up every day … as a quarterback you have to be a leader,” he said. “To be a leader is: Do I care about my teammates, and do I care about what we’re trying to accomplish? Rules one and two. And I would say that to every quarterback that I come across. … That’s what’s endearing to your teammates.”
