Pete Carroll is taking his current challenge with all the seriousness it requires: the iconic head coach wants to make the Las Vegas Raiders a franchise that can contend for the Super Bowl within the next couple of years.

The Nevada team ended with a terrible 4-13 record for the 2024 regular season, dead last in the AFC West, a division that’s dominated by superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the spectacular Kansas City Chiefs.

The other two teams in the division had a winning season: the Denver Broncos and the Los Angeles Chargers, a team that’s built to compete under iconic head coach Jim Harbaugh and superstar quarterback Justin Herbert. That’s how big of a challenge is ahead for Carroll and the Raiders.

Tom Brady gets a big surprise during his visit to Raiders

Tom Brady, now a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, stepped onto the practice field to meet players and staff as the team prepared for their mock game at Allegiant Stadium. Fans in attendance were thrilled to see the seven-time Super Bowl champion up close.

At 73 years old, head coach Pete Carroll stole the spotlight when he suddenly broke into a sprint. His unexpected burst of speed caught the attention of both Brady and the team, proving the veteran coach still has plenty of energy to lead.

The players cheered and laughed as Carroll’s sprint went viral. Brady’s visit turned into a lighthearted showcase of team spirit, with the legendary quarterback witnessing firsthand the enthusiasm that the Raiders hope to carry into the season.

The road to shape a Super Bowl champion

Pete Carroll knows a thing or two about taking a team to a promised land: placing competition at the forefront along with a personable approach from the coaching staff down to the players. That’s the kind of mentality as he leads his first camp as the Raiders head coach.

“We want to win a bunch of games, I can’t even imagine anything [else],” Carroll said. “I’ve been winning 10 games a year for 20 years or something. What are my expectations? We want to win a bunch. And I don’t care who hears that, it doesn’t matter to me.

Carroll enters his 19th training camp as an NFL head coach with the same mentality, but with a more enlightened perspective. He took a step back from coaching in 2024 after being moved from being head coach to a senior advisor of the Seattle Seahawks.
