Tom Brady finally breaks his strict diet – and confirms he won’t come out of retirement

Tom Brady has long been known for adhering to an ultra-strict nutritional regimen under the TB12 Method: a plantbased, antiinflammatory lifestyle that rules out dairy, caffeine, refined sugar, and salt.

Now a co-owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, Brady’s success speaks for itself: seven Super Bowl rings, six with the New England Patriots and one with Tampa Bay Buccaneers. So when billionaire sports entrepreneur Michael Rubin shared a video of Brady indulging in an unexpected treat, it caught many by surprise.

Rubin posted a playful clip on Instagram showing Brady apparently about to dig in, with a caption that joked: “I finally put him down lol ps. Def never coming out of retirement now!”

Brady’s response? A cheeky, “Well, I didn’t want to waste any food! I was being polite.” It was uncharacteristically lighthearted – but also significant, coming from a man who made diet discipline part of his brand.

A lifestyle, not just a routine

Throughout his career, Brady’s diet has been legendary – consisting roughly of 80 percent vegetables and grains, 20 percent lean protein, and strictly avoiding things like dairy, white flour, and red meat.

Even a single wing was considered an indulgence, as former teammate Julian Edelman once revealed – and in his retirement that haven’t changed much. But now, over three years after his final retirement announcement, it appears that Brady has eased up.

According to SportsRush, Rubin’s video suggests that Brady allowed himself at least one unplanned exception to his normal food rules – evidence that he’s softening his diet discipline without sacrificing his commitment to overall health.

While Brady may be embracing an occasional cheat, it’s clear that he isn’t about to step back into the NFL. Rubin’s remark – “Def never coming out of retirement now!” – seems to confirm that Brady’s playing days are done.

Brady himself has echoed this sentiment in interviews: his focus now is physical and mental wellness, family time, and staying fit for life – not for competition.

That doesn’t mean throwing discipline entirely to the wind. Even now, he maintains habits that reflect his performancedriven past: high activity levels, clean nutrition, and recovery routines steeped in TB12 principles

His status as a former MVP and seven-time Super Bowl champion does give him room to relax occasionally – but his overall lifestyle remains structured around longevity and health.

Why it matters

For decades, Brady’s life was one of rigid control – every meal, motion, recovery protocol calibrated for peak physical performance. His retirement earlier this decade raised questions: would those habits fade? Or matter at all?

The Rubin moment suggests both a loosening of control and evidence of evolution: the regimen is still there, but the man now picks when to let go.

At 46, Brady looks fitter than ever. He’s lost weight, dropped a few strict rules, but still wins at wellness – an evolution in approach rather than a farewell to it.

The calorie tracking and caffeinated-only black coffee past has given way to something more sustainable – a lifestyle built on flexibility, self-awareness, and joy. That’s how he explains his ice cream moment: “Well, I didn’t want to waste any food!”

Make no mistake – Brady won’t be suiting up again. Instead, he’s built a brand and life beyond football: wellness entrepreneur, investor, broadcaster, and father. The cheat meal doesn’t change that. If anything, it humanizes the man behind the legend.

Michael Rubin coaxed Tom Brady into a rare diet break, but it matters less what he ate than what his response reveals: he’s at peace with who he is off the field, and that retirement isn’t going anywhere.
