Tom Brady always gives his all to the fans and his statue proves it

Before the New England Patriots’ first preseason game against the Washington Commanders, Gillette Stadium witnessed a historic moment: the unveiling of Tom Brady’s statue. Thousands of fans gathered to celebrate not just a sports icon, but a symbol of greatness for the franchise exactly one year after his induction into the team’s Hall of Fame.

The Patriots’ CEO said that beyond words or actions, what truly endures is how someone makes others feel. To him, Brady conveyed that unique sense that the Patriots were unbeatable.

Visibly moved, the former quarterback recalled that this tribute wasn’t his alone, but for the entire team that defined an era in the NFL: “It’s never about just one player, but about the collective effort that allowed us to make history.”

A tribute to greatness

The sculpture, created by local artist and lifelong Patriots fan Jeff Buccacio, stands 12 feet tall (3.6 meters) in honor of Brady’s iconic No. 12, and reaches a total height of 17 feet (5.2 meters) with its granite base sourced from Vermont. The pedestal’s hexagonal shape represents the six Super Bowl titles he won with the Patriots. The statue depicts him with his helmet in one hand and his right fist raised high just as he so often celebrated on the field.

During the ceremony, the former quarterback showed his trademark sense of humor, joking that the statue could still be “improved” and taking a playful jab at his longtime rivals, the New York Jets, saying it would be the perfect place for their fans to spill their beers before the game was over.

An eternal legacy

In his 20 seasons with New England, Brady won six Super Bowls, earned three NFL MVP awards, and was named Super Bowl MVP four times. Later, with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he added a seventh ring before retiring in 2023 as the most decorated player in league history holding records for most wins, completions, passing yards, touchdowns, and postseason victories.

Beyond the numbers, Brady has left his mark through his humility and his ability to recognize those who shared the journey with him. A leader who never forgets that success is a team effort, and who understands that gratitude is just as important as glory. His statue is more than bronze; it is a reminder that legends never fade.
