As the Tennessee Titans‘ offseason program progresses, the quarterback competition remains wide open, with head coach Brian Callahan opting not to designate a starting quarterback at this stage.

While rookie Cam Ward, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, has shown promise, Callahan is maintaining a fluid approach to the position.

Cam Ward’s impressive start

Cam Ward enters the NFL with an impressive collegiate resume. After transferring from Washington State, he had a standout season at the University of Miami, throwing for 4,313 yards and 39 touchdowns, earning him the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year honors.

Ward also set a Division I career record for touchdown passes with 158. His performance during the offseason workouts has caught the attention of the coaching staff and teammates alike.

Despite his accolades, Coach Callahan is taking a cautious approach. He emphasized the importance of rotation during organized team activities (OTAs), stating, “As far as quarterback and quarterback reps and how that’s all going to work is, I’m not going to sit up here and give you guys weekly and daily updates as to who takes reps and when.”

Callahan‘s strategy is to provide all quarterbacks with equal opportunities to showcase their skills.

Ward’s integration into the team is still in its early stages. While he has demonstrated leadership and adaptability, the Titans’ coaching staff is focused on ensuring he adjusts well to the NFL’s pace and complexity.

The team’s commitment to a thorough evaluation process reflects their long-term vision for Ward‘s development.

Will Levis: A season of redemption

Will Levis, entering his third season with the Titans, is determined to rebound from a challenging 2024 campaign. After starting 12 games and recording 2,091 yards with 13 touchdowns and 12 interceptions, Levis faced criticism and was benched midseason.

Acknowledging the need for improvement, he has been working closely with personal coach Jordan Palmer during the offseason to refine his mechanics and decision-making.

Coach Callahan has expressed confidence in Levis‘s growth, stating, “He’s been great. Really, really happy with the work that he’s put in, what he’s learned.”

Callahan emphasized the importance of translating practice performance to game situations, noting that Levis has shown significant improvement in a short amount of time.

The Titans’ coaching staff is committed to providing Levis with the necessary support to succeed. Callahan’s mentorship aims to harness Levis’s physical talents and enhance his understanding of the game, fostering a competitive environment that benefits both quarterbacks.
