Tiger Woods pulls April Fools’ prank that sends golf world into meltdown

Tiger Woods has not lost his sense of humor.Through his social networks, he announced that, despite breaking his Achilles tendon a few weeks ago, he was going to be able to play the Masters at Augusta. When the message arrived, many golf fans were taken aback. It seemed impossible… and it was. The Anglo-Saxons were the first to notice. They only had to look at the calendar: April 1, April Fools’ Day, the equivalent of December 28 (Santos Inocentes) in the English-speaking world and also in other European countries such as France, Belgium, Germany and Italy.

“I can’t believe what I’m saying, but a few weeks after tearing my left Achilles tendon, sleeping in a hyperbaric chamber and doing explosive lifts, my doctors and trainers have me ready to play the Masters next week! Can’t wait! See you on the course,” Woods wrote on his social media… Shortly afterwards he added a postscript: “April Fool’s Day, my Achilles tendon is still a mess 🙂“.

In early March, the five-time Masters winner announced his serious injury: “As I began to ramp up my own training and practice at home, I felt a sharp pain in my left Achilles tendon, which was deemed to be ruptured.” Woods underwent surgery and was estimated to be out for around six months

Since the car accident he suffered in 2021, he has only played eleven official events. The 2024 season was prolific, with five appearances, the last at the British Open, after which he underwent surgery for his back problems. He was scheduled to return at the Genesis Invitational in the second week of February, but did not play in the end due to the death of his mother.
