Tiger Woods looks set for future in broadcasting as injury concerns cloud his playing future

Tiger Woods gave fans a memorable appearance in the broadcast booth during the final round of the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas, the PGA Tour event he hosts.

The 15-time major winner, 49, teamed up with fellow former pro Kevin Kisner and looked completely at ease, mixing expert commentary with playful banter.

At one point, Woods ribbed Kisner about a thin bunker shot that hit a flag pole during a TGL match earlier this year.

Kisner joked, “So, since you’ve been practicing your chipping and putting, are you ready for me to come down there and whack you for the TGL season coming up?”

Woods fired back with a grin: “Hey, I’ve seen you chip. I know you can putt. I think we can work on the bunker game a little bit.”

Both laughed as the clip of Kisner‘s mishap played, with Woods calling it the “all-time best” and joking, “I’ve never cried like this before.”

He also walked viewers through his legendary 6-iron recovery at the 2000 Canadian Open, which sailed 213 yards over water to the back of the green and helped him clinch victory.

Kisner added, “We’re kinda the same but a little different,” drawing more chuckles.

Fans call for Tiger to join the booth full-time

Social media quickly reacted to Woods‘ on-air performance.

One fan wrote that “Tiger in the booth is pure comedy gold,” while another added, “He would make an awesome broadcaster in the future!!!”

The appearance comes amid ongoing uncertainty about Woods‘ playing career.

He has not competed since the 2024 Open Championship, following a string of injuries, most recently a spinal disc replacement in October.

His recovery has been slow, and he was only recently cleared to chip and putt.

“Now we’ve got the ok to start cranking up a little bit in the gym, start strengthening and doing more of the rotational component that I haven’t been able to do,” Woods said.

Approaching his 50th birthday on December 30, Woods is eligible for the senior tour and has suggested he might play around 25 events across both the regular and senior circuits.

A source close to him said he’s focused on recovery first, as per the Daily Mail, explaining, “He wants to end the career with a bang, not a whimper.”

For now, fans can enjoy seeing Woods‘ personality shine in the booth while his future on the fairways remains uncertain.
