Tiger Woods’ latest injury leaves him out of another major event as he enjoys romance with Vanessa Trump

Tiger Woods, one of the most celebrated golfers in history, was a notable absentee at this year’s Masters Champions Dinner at Augusta National, marking just the second time he’s missed the exclusive event in over two decades.

While his absence was expected due to a recent Achilles tendon injury, it also signaled a broader transition in the 15-time major champion’s life-one that now includes both healing and a blossoming new romance.

In early March, Woods revealed he had suffered a torn Achilles tendon while practicing, requiring surgery. His announcement confirmed that he would not only miss the dinner but likely be sidelined for the entire 2025 PGA season, depending on his rehabilitation.

The setback came just weeks after the emotional loss of his mother, Kultida Woods, who passed away at 80 in February.

Woods, who famously returned from devastating injuries to win the 2019 Masters, now appears to be shifting focus from competition to wellbeing, both physical and personal.

A new chapter with Vanessa Trump

While his competitive future remains uncertain, Woods has embraced change in other aspects of his life. Shortly after his surgery announcement, he went public with his new relationship with Vanessa Trump, the ex-wife of Donald Trump Jr.

“Love is in the air and life is better with you by my side!” Woods wrote in a post shared to social media. “We look forward to our journey through life together. At this time we would appreciate privacy for those close to our hearts.”

President Donald Trump, a longtime golfing companion of Woods, also expressed support for the couple.

“He told me about it, and I said, ‘Tiger, that’s good, that’s good,'” Trump told reporters. “I’m very happy for you both. Let them both be happy. They’re both great.”

The relationship comes at a time when Woods appears to be taking steps toward a more balanced life. Following a string of injuries, surgeries, and personal challenges, the golfer seems intent on prioritizing his inner circle and long-term health.

Augusta’s tradition continues without a legend

At the 2025 Champions Dinner, Scottie Scheffler, who won his second Masters title in 2024, hosted fellow champions at Augusta.

The Texas native curated a comfort-food-heavy menu, with items like firecracker shrimp, cowboy ribeye steak, and “Papa Scheff’s” meatball ravioli-an homage to a Christmas Day cooking injury involving a wine glass.

Scheffler, dealing with Augusta’s infamous spring pollen, joked about his watery eyes during press duties, but remained optimistic.

“This rain and pollen out here… I get out of my car in the morning, my eyes start watering. It’s a little bit worse than normal years. But I feel good, ready to roll,” he said.

Though Woods was missed by his fellow green jacket winners, his absence was seen as understandable. The 49-year-old’s recent Achilles surgery adds to a long list of injuries that have plagued him since his car accident in 2021.

Whether or not he returns to professional golf remains unclear. But for now, Woods seems to be leaning into life beyond the tee box-recovering on his own time, finding companionship, and letting Augusta wait a little longer for its most iconic champion.
