Tiger Woods’ personal life once again finds itself in the public spotlight, not because of his performance on the golf course, but due to his noticeable absence from an important family gathering.
While his girlfriend, Vanessa, and her daughter Kai were present at the White House to mark President Donald Trump’s 79th birthday, the 15-time major winner was not in attendance.
The golfer’s decision to miss such a high-profile occasion, despite Donald’s well-documented passion for golf, has raised questions about the current state of his relationship and public commitments.
However, Woods’ current absence might be tied to health concerns. He underwent surgery in March for a ruptured Achilles tendon, a setback that kept him from competing in the 2025 Masters.
Though he later appeared publicly to support his son Charlie at a junior golf event, it’s possible his rehabilitation remains a priority and could be the reason for skipping Trump’s birthday.
His last visit to the White House was in early May for a meeting orchestrated by Donald between Woods and LIV Golf chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan-an effort reportedly focused on discussing a potential unification between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf.
Before that, he attended a Black History Month celebration at the White House in February. So, he is known for travelling to D.C. to meet the POTUS and his administration, but did not do so this time.
Ultimately, Woods’ absence from a major Trump event is bound to fuel speculation about his relationship to Vanessa but there are no red flags yet – after all, it was a private day for close family.
Tiger and Vanessa enjoy a private bond
Although Tiger and Vanessa Trump publicly confirmed their relationship in March 2025, the two had reportedly been dating quietly since Thanksgiving 2024, with the approval of the billionaire president.
Their bond reportedly grew over their children’s shared passion for golf. While Charlie Woods has continued to impress in the junior circuit, Kai has also emerged as a public figure in youth golf.
Vanessa and Kai’s attendance at multiple TGL events and the Genesis Invitational has made their connection to Woods more visible, even though he withdrew from the latter following the passing of his mother, Kultida.
Despite these public links, the couple has generally maintained a low profile. Vanessa has continued to make appearances at golf events, often accompanied by her daughter, but Woods has remained behind the scenes.
The celebration in Washington D.C. coincided with the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army and featured a grand military parade, the first time tanks rolled through the capital in three decades.
Approximately 200,000 attendees were present to mark the dual occasion, including all members of the Trump family.
