Tiger Woods and his 14-year-old son, Charlie, are teaming up once again for the PNC Championship, taking place this weekend at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando, Florida.
This Pro-Am event, featuring 20 major champions alongside family members, has become a fan-favorite for its relaxed atmosphere and unique father-child dynamics.
This year marks the fifth consecutive appearance for the Woods duo at the PNC Championship. As in previous years, the event provides a rare opportunity for fans to see Tiger Woods in a more casual setting, away from the pressure of PGA Tour events.
While the tournament remains competitive, its family-oriented nature allows participants and fans alike to focus on the joy of the game.
In preparation for the event, Tiger and Charlie participated in a practice round in windy conditions. Tiger, who has faced several physical setbacks in recent years, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to play alongside his son.
During a press conference, Tiger shared a humorous moment when asked whether Charlie has managed to beat him in an 18-hole round of golf.
“That day is coming. I’m just prolonging it as long as I possibly can,” Woods joked.
While Charlie has outscored his dad over a 9-hole stretch, the teenager has yet to claim victory over a full 18 holes.
Tiger’s return
Many wondered whether Tiger would participate in this year’s PNC Championship after withdrawing from the Hero World Challenge earlier this month due to health concerns. The 15-time major champion cited physical unpreparedness as the reason for his absence from the Bahamas event.
The PNC Championship, however, offers a more forgiving format. The two-day event features a relaxed pace and shorter rounds, allowing Woods to enjoy quality time with his son without pushing himself too hard physically.
“Just being able to play with Charlie is what matters most,” Tiger said. “This event has always been about family, and I’m looking forward to making memories with him.”
