‘Tiger Woods has stayed away from public life since the car accident he was involved in March, but this week he could take part in some Nexus Cup matches in New York, an event with which he is involved charitably.’
Today the Californian was seen hitting balls on the practice range at Liberty National Golf Club. During the clinic he gave, Tiger was asked how his game is progressing, and he replied: “I can hit pretty much anything”. A very smooth swing could indeed be seen.
Let’s remember that Tiger has not played a competitive round since the 2024 British Open at Royal Troon, more than two years ago. On March 11, 2025, he underwent surgery after rupturing his left Achilles tendon, and in October of that same year he had his seventh back surgery to replace a disc in his lower back.
His return had been considered at the last Masters, until he was involved in an accident that cost him five years without a driver’s license. The golfer pleaded guilty to reckless driving and to refusing to submit to a legal test after the incident.
It should be remembered that before settling his case with the U.S. Justice Department, Woods spent three months in a rehabilitation center in Switzerland. Recently there was talk of the possible participation of the 15-time Major winner in the Baycurrent Classic (October 8 to 11), a PGA Tour event held in Japan. His image appears on the promotional poster, but he has not confirmed absolutely anything related to his possible return to competition.
