Los Angeles Dodgers legendary pitcherClayton Kershaw announced his retirement at the end of the season, and the impact was immediate: ticket prices for his last home start skyrocketed

According to reports, the minimum cost to attend Saturday’s game against the San Francisco Giants reached $258, a 303% increase from the start of the season.

A historic farewell at Dodger Stadium

Saturday’s game will be special not only because it is Kershaw’s last regular home start, but also because of the giveaway of a commemorative bobblehead of his 3,000th strikeout. Demand for tickets has been so high that, just hours before the first pitch, only standing room tickets in the outfield pavilion remained, according to the Dodgers’ official website.

Record increase in less than 24 hours

According to TickPick data cited by Bob Nightengale, ticket prices for Saturday’s game increased by 61% in less than 24 hours after the retirement announcement. This phenomenon reflects the desire of fans to witness live one of the most emotional moments in the team’s recent history.

Kershaw, Dodgers icon

With a career that includes 222 wins, three Cy Young Awards, an MVP and two World Series titles, Kershaw bows out as one of the greatest left-handed pitchers of all time. His legacy in Los Angeles is comparable to legends such as Sandy Koufax and Fernando Valenzuela, and his retirement marks the end of a golden era for the franchise.

Postseason expectations

Although it is not yet confirmed whether Kershaw will play in the playoffs, his experience and leadership could be key in the final stretch. For now, the focus is on his last home start, which has become a must-see event for baseball fans.

A farewell that raises demand

The ticket market reaction demonstrates the emotional and sporting impact of Kershaw on the fans. His retirement not only closes a chapter in Dodgers history, but also turns every remaining moment on the field into a unique opportunity to pay tribute to him.
