Three moves that could help Aaron Boone keep his job with the Yankees

When the Yankeeslose, fans automatically blame New York manager Aaron Boone and are already calling for changes.

The Yankees have not been playing well and Aaron Boone needs players to support Aaron Judge, also on defense as well as arms for the bullpen.

Three changes that could help Aaron Boone with the Yankees

  1. Eugenio Suarez, the Venezuelan third baseman for the Diamondbacks, has hit 26 home runs with an offensive resurgence after looking to be designated for assignment. Geno would be a steady bat in the middle of Aaron Boone’s lineup with the Yankees.
  2. Seth Halvorsen and Jake Bird, the Colorado Rockies relievers, would do well in the bullpen managed by Aaron Boone with the Yankees. Halvorsen has not allowed a run in 26 of his 35 MLB appearances in 2025, while Bird has an ERA of 2.79, with only three bad relief appearances this season.
  3. Willi Castro, the Puerto Rican and Minnesota Twins utility player, is a player to watch for Aaron Boone and the Yankees, especially because of his defense at shortstop, which is better than that of Anthony Volpe. In addition, he will be a free agent after the 2025 MLB season.

Which players could the Yankees trade in these possible deals?

  • For third baseman Eugenio Suarez, the Yankees could trade infielder Roderick Arias and right-handed pitcher Elmer Rodriguez-Cruz, who are the number five and six prospects in their Minor League farm system.

  • While for the right-handed relievers, Seth Halvorsen and Jake Bird, the Yankees could trade right-handed pitchers Cade Smith and Carlos Lagrange, who are the 14th and 17th ranked rookies in their farm system
  • For Willi Castro, the Yankees would have to give up one of the players to whom they have loyalty in the organization and it would be none other than Anthony Volpe, who has been the starting shortstop for the past three seasons.
