It was against the Tampa Bay Rays that Anthony Volpe felt severe pain in his left shoulder and had to receive an injection. The Yankees shortstop made a diving play against the Rays during a game last May. Since then, the player’s performance has dropped and fans have expressed their frustration.

In general, Aaron Boone’s team has not been good and their recent results have shown it. In a series that will be etched in the memory of fans, the Detroit Tigers knocked it out of the park at Yankee Stadium. With an impressive offensive display, the Tigers not only won, but crushed New York in their own home.

Pain has affected Anthony Volpe’s swing and consistency at the plate

Volpe has continued to play despite the discomfort. However, the persistent discomfort has affected his swing and his consistency at the plate. The Yankees believe the cortisone injection will help reduce inflammation and restore mobility. It should give Anthony Volpe a better chance of regaining his form.

With the race for the postseason on the rise, the team hopes his recovery will give a much-needed boost to the lineup. The Yankees are second in the American League East with 80 wins, three less than the Toronto Blue Jays.

Yankees captain Aaron Judge is the one who seems to be maintaining his good form, hitting his 359th career home run in the first inning Tuesday night against the Tigers, breaking the tie with Hall of Fame catcher Yogi Berra for fifth place on the franchise list.

Judge connected on a two-run fastball with a full count from Casey Mize to right-center field, giving New York a 1-0 lead. The slugger’s 44th home run of the season had an exit velocity of 110.6 mph and traveled 412 feet.
