This is the player who could have gone to the Cowboys instead of Kenny Clark after Micah Parsons trade with Packers

The Packers had a good Week 1 in the NFL after beating the Detroit Lions 27-13, a game in which Micah Parsons stood out with his first tackle for Green Bay. The linebacker joined the Wisconsin franchise from Dallas, a team that let its star linebacker go in exchange for Kenny Clark; however, that was not the initial plan at The Star.

The recent acquisition of Micah Parsons by the Packers was one of the main stories of the game, and rightly so. Parsons, a veteran Pro Bowler and All-Pro, arrived in Green Bay at the peak of his career and promises to be a key figure on the field once he is fully integrated into the team’s defensive scheme.

Cowboys were interested in Rashan Gary before Kenny Clark

The Green Bay Packers have an excellent quarterback in Micah Parsons, and they saw the kind of player they have in Week 1 against the Detroit Lions. The Dallas Cowboys managed to get Kenny Clark in exchange for the trade, but apparently, they had their sights set on someone else from the Packers, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

“I was told that pass rusher Rashan Gary, who had 1.5 sacks Sunday against Detroit, stayed in Green Bay and was part of Dallas’ internal negotiations for the trade of Micah Parsons,” Fowler wrote. “The Cowboys were looking for a top defensive player, and Gary’s name came up on the team before the trade.”

The Cowboys ultimately wanted Kenny Clark, focused on defensive tackle and run defense, but Gary as a Cowboy was at least an idea that was floated at The Star. Despite losing Clark, Green Bay now boasts a fierce three-man defense with Parsons, Gary and Lukas Van Ness, who can play inside or outside.

Where to watch Commanders vs. Packers on Thursday Night Football

This Thursday, September 11, at 8:15 p.m. ET, the action kicks off in Week 2 of the NFL, and to open the slate we’ll have a showdown at Lambeau Field, where the Green Bay Packers take on the Washington Commanders, who won their divisional matchup with a 21-6 victory over the New York Giants.

LeFleur and the Packers managed to conquer their first victory of the campaign after taming the Detroit Lions in a resounding 27-13, with two touchdown passes by Jordan Love, and a touchdown by Josh Jacobs on the ground. The Packers are the leaders of the NFC North.
