This is the luxurious Mexican hotel where Cristiano Ronaldo will stay during the World Cup: almost $3,000 per night

With five months to go before the start of the 2026 World Cup, the participating teams are beginning to finalise key aspects of logistics, accommodation and sporting planning. One of these is Portugal, led by Cristiano Ronaldo, who already have a defined place where they will concentrate during the tournament.

According to Spanish journalist Alejandro de la Rosa, the Portuguese national team has chosen a luxurious resort in the Riviera Maya as its World Cup “bunker”, prioritising comfort, privacy and first-class facilities for its star player and the rest of the squad.

Fairmont Mayakoba, the chosen one

The chosen venue would be the Fairmont Mayakoba Riviera Maya, an exclusive five-star resort located a few kilometers from Playa del Carmen. The choice is not only due to the luxury of the complex, but also to its strategic geographical location.

During the group stage, Portugal would be based in Houston and Miami, cities that are two hours and just over an hour’s flight, respectively, from the Riviera Maya, which would facilitate transfers and reduce the physical wear and tear on the team.

A resort surrounded by nature and exclusivity

The Fairmont Mayakoba stands out for being immersed in a privileged natural environment. Covering an area of 97 hectares of rainforest and coastline, the resort is surrounded by lush vegetation, crystal-clear waterways and has direct access to the beach.

Its main attractions include five swimming pools, including a 3,000-square-meter main pool with a swim-up bar and an adults-only infinity pool overlooking the lagoon. In addition, the resort features a world-class golf course, sports facilities and spaces designed to ensure total privacy.

Facilities designed for a World Cup team

According to Marca, the hotel has 401 rooms, including beachfront suites and private bungalows. All are equipped with marble bathrooms, deep soaking tubs, coffee makers, high-speed Wi-Fi and premium amenities.

Despite its large size, the complex allows for sectorisation of spaces, which would make it easier for the Portuguese national team to maintain a controlled and reserved environment throughout their stay at the World Cup.

The cost of luxury

The level of exclusivity at the Fairmont Mayakoba is also reflected in its prices. The simplest rooms range from 282 to 320 euros per night, while the most luxurious suites start at 1,000 euros and can reach up to 2,938 euros per night, close to three million pesos in its most expensive option.

Everything indicates that Portugal will leave no stone unturned in their quest for the 2026 World Cup, opting for a comfortable environment as they seek to be the protagonists at the world’s most important football tournament.
