This could be the first firing at the Miami Dolphins and it’s not the head coach

This could be the first firing in the Miami Dolphins and it’s not head coach Mike McDaniel.

This could happen if they lose to the Buffalo Bills in their Week 3 game of the 2025 National Football League (NFL) season on Thursday night, September 18, 2025.

This could be the first firing for the Miami Dolphins and it’s not the head coach

According to Omar Kelly, columnist and host of the Miami Herald podcast, he joined PFT Live on Thursday to address that and other issues about the Dolphins. “To me, (the G.M. General Manager) Chris Grier deserves more of the blame and is probably the first to be fired.”

“Because how long has he been here? He’s been here 20 years in a position of power and, you know, he’s been running the organization as a senior executive since 2019. Clearly, this is a failure. But if Steve Ross does anything, I need him to do a total cleanup and erase everything in one fell swoop and start over, because that’s literally the only thing he’s never done.”

Although Omar Kelly is not sure if Chris Grier will be fired for these reasons

“I’m not sure Chris Grier isn’t going to be relocated somewhere else in the organization. And why? Because he knows where the bodies are buried in the Brian Flores lawsuit. And now that it’s gone to arbitration with Roger Goodell, I’d rather Chris Grier keep cashing checks and be employed by me, so that maybe he’s protected instead of, ‘Yeah, firing this guy.’ So the way you treat Chris Grier has always been something that should be ‘handled with care.’ And that’s a situation I don’t think is going anywhere while this Brian Flores situation is still pending.”
