They’re just playing with Shedeur Sanders; Kevin Stefanski and the Browns are in love with Clemson’s Cade Klubnik

There’s no doubt that the Cleveland Browns are one of the most dysfunctional franchises in NFL history-especially because of their terrible decisions that have kept them from progressing as a team. Even when they make a good move, they manage to turn it into a costly mistake.

Not long ago, the Cleveland Browns drafted Baker Mayfield in 2018, a quarterback who gave them a competitive boost, especially in 2021 when they earned their first playoff win in 26 years-against a divisional rival, the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, just a year later, after a rough season, they ended up throwing him away.

Today, Baker Mayfield is shining with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, coming off a season with 4,500 passing yards, 41 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions, while the Browns face an uncertain future with four quarterbacks: Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel, and Shedeur Sanders. Not to mention, the injured Deshaun Watson is still on the roster.

The Browns are in love with Cade Klubnik from Clemson

Even though there’s some hope that rookies Dillon Gabriel or Shedeur Sanders could become the franchise’s future, the reality is far more complicated-especially because the Browns have a very tough schedule and are likely to finish with one of the worst records in the NFL.

If they end up in a position to draft a quarterback next year, analyst Jacob Infante of Cleveland.com believes the Browns will go after talented Clemson QB Cade Klubnik. Particularly since Cleveland will have two first-round picks: their own and the one they acquired via the trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars, who selected Travis Hunter.

“Cade Klubnik showed significant progress in 2024. He’s an accurate passer with good poise in the pocket and underrated mobility. His consistency, rhythm, and decision-making give him a solid floor and project him as a potential long-term starter in the NFL,” said Infante.

Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel will likely get their chance at some point during the season, but they’ll need to make an immediate impact to convince the Browns not to pursue another quarterback-which will be very difficult to achieve.
