They revealed how much money Kyle Schwarber, the player who wants to take the MVP title away from Shohei Ohtani, could earn.

The Philadelphia Phillies slugger helped the team win the National League East Division in the 2025 MLB season.

According to The Sporting News, Kyle Schwarber is set to get a mega contract extension worth $110 million. He has taken off this season and has become the closest competitor to Shohei Ohtani in the race for the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award, as free agency approaches.

“His career year has been incredible to watch, but it’s also making it increasingly difficult for the Phillies to retain him, as he is set to become a free agent after 2025,” wrote Matt Davis of TBOH.

“More recently, J.D. Martinez signed a five-year, $110 million contract with the Red Sox in the spring of 2018 as he entered his age-30 season,” wrote Mark Feinsand of MLB.com.

Bryce Harper made his position clear regarding Kyle Schwarber.

Bryce Harper made it clear that losing Schwarber in free agency would be a big blow to the team’s dynamic, telling MLB.com: “I was talking to someone the other day. And I thought, ‘Man, it would be weird not having [Schwarber] in our clubhouse.’ He’s a great leader. He’s a great person in the community. Great family, great person.”
