They are asking for a radical change in the Yankees while Anthony Volpe continues to disappoint in the season proving that he will never be like Derek Jeter

The New York Yankees have been disappointing in their last five games, all of which have ended in defeat. What was their amazing start with their “Torpedo Bats” is now a mockery a week before the All-Star Game, the point where the mid-season mark is set. After their embarrassing four-game sweep against the Toronto Blue Jays, the Bronx Bombers have a record of 15 losses in their last 20 games. They have problems with attack, infield and pitching.

After an embarrassing 12-5 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday, Yankees legend Dellin Betances called for a radical change in his appearance on the Foul Territory podcast. “This just shows that maybe a big move needs to be made here, to make sure they can get back to that promised land, which is the World Series,” said Betances, where this Friday in the framework of July 4, Independence Day in the United States, the Bronx team sowed a new defeat against the New York Mets at Citi Field.

Anthony Volpe is questioned, as he generates more errors than successes

With just a few days to go until the halfway point of the season, the New York Yankees are undoubtedly in a position that would warrant a “big move”, and while Dellin Betances did not recommend anything in particular, there has been no shortage of comments from the frustrated Bombers faithful. On the one hand, shortstop Anthony Volpe continues to disappoint in the batter’s box and currently leads the American League in errors, so a replacement could be an option. Certainly a far cry from a great SS like Derek Jeter.Jazz Chisholm has been playing third base since his return from injury, while DJ LeMahieu has remained at second now that he has recovered from his injuries. However, they note that Chisholm performs better at second base, and LeMahieu has not been up to his defensive position lately. The Athletic’s Chris Kirschner noted that LeMahieu “can’t move” at second base, but the Yankees’ front office could consider this move from the second half of the campaign.

The solution for the New York Yankees is still a long way off

The Yankees’ problems have centered mainly on the offense, where it is theorized that the team will follow the same path as Aaron Judge. If the reigning MVP has a bad week, the team seems to have it. It seems that even when Judge has a good week, the Yankees have a bad one, and Betances is seeing the same thing as everyone else.

Betances was a four-time All-Star (2014-2017 inclusive) and played for the Yankees for most of his career. He was selected by the New York Yankees in the first round of the 2006 draft and made his MLB debut on September 22, 2011. He shone in his All-Star seasons before declining in the late 2010s, moving to the New York Mets from 2019 to 2021, and then played briefly with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2022 before retiring that same year.
