The New York Yankees are currently paying three players a total of $43.8 million not to play for them. Those three players are DJ LeMahieu, Aaron Hicks and Marcus Stroman. The exact figure is $43,785,714.

MLB baseball contracts, unlike many contracts in other professional sports, are fully guaranteed when signed.

That means that when the Yankees got rid of Aaron Hicks in the past, and DJ LeMahieu and Marcus Stroman this 2025 Major League Baseball season, they still owe them the money stipulated in their contract and have to pay it.
