The Yankees embarrass themselves again as the Rangers abuse their crisis to win a game in extra innings

It was an intense, emotional game. It was all happiness for the Texas Rangers, but the bad run sinks New York Yankees. The Texans and New Yorkers played a dramatic extra-innings game to open their three-game series. The game reached its peak suspense in the hands of Joc Pederson, who was batting .126 on the season, and hit a solo home run in the ninth inning to tie the game against New York (60-53) reliever Devin Williams to send the game into extra innings.

However, there was still more history to be made in the 10th inning at Globe Life Field. With the Rangers with men on first and second, it was Josh Jung’s turn at bat, who with a count of one ball, one strike and two outs waited for the comfortable pitch and connected a home run to bring three runs to the plate and give them the 8-5 victory over a Yankees team that continues to sink in the AL East.

Texas Rangers looking for a wild card berth

With this victory, the Rangers improved their record to 59-55 to remain in third place in the American League West, four and a half games behind the division-leading Houston Astros (63-50). It should be remembered that the Arlington team did not want to option Josh Jung in July to work on his swing. But his chase rate and declining offensive line forced the franchise to act.

Since being called up from Triple-A Round Rock on July 21, Jung has hit in 10 consecutive games. That includes Monday’s game. During this streak, he has gone 13-for-34 and has surpassed .300. He has surpassed that batting average above .250. He missed four games of the tour due to calf soreness. It was a shame, as Jung has become one of Texas’ most consistent hitters since the All-Star break.

Josh Jung was not expected to play against the New York Yankees

It was a surprise to be in the lineup on Monday. There were rumors that he might need a season on the injured list. But he looked flawless in the series opener against the New York team. A great decision with a spectacular hit. It was his biggest hit since his return, perhaps the biggest of the season. The starting pitcher for the Texas Rangers was Patrick Corbin with the idea that he would be a reliable player who would eat up innings and start every five days.

However, the left-hander went without a decision on Monday after allowing three runs in three innings and his reliever, Jon Gray, gave up the lead in the fourth. He got into trouble by allowing as many walks (three) as strikeouts (three). It was Danny Couloumbe who took the win.
