Despite not having Caitlin Clark for seven games, the Indiana Fever has won five consecutive games. The most recent was against the Seattle Storm, 78-74.

This leaves them with a record of 17 wins and 12 losses, placing them in fifth place in the WNBA. And the one who seems to have taken the reins of the team this week was one of the Fever’s stars, something that did not go unnoticed by the league.

The WNBA highlights the performance of Indiana and Lynx icon

In 16 games in which Caitlin has been out, the team has a 9-7 record, with the help of Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston.

For this reason, on Tuesday, the WNBA named the 23-year-old center Eastern Conference Player of the Week and shared this news on its official social media accounts.

The truth is that Boston scored 16 points, 12 rebounds, two assists, three steals, and one block in 31 minutes of play in the game against the Storm. In addition, she set a new franchise record by becoming the player with the most consecutive double-doubles, with six. Previously, Caitlin held this record.

In Indiana’s last three games, the three-time All-Star has averaged 16.7 points, 11.7 rebounds, and 2.0 steals per game.

In addition to Aliyah, Kayla McBride of the Minnesota Lynx was also named Player of the Week, but for the Western Conference, averaging 24.0 points, 5.0 assists, and 1.5 steals.

Fans were quick to express their affection for both players: “Congratulations ladies,” commented one. “Well deserved! 3-0! Our rock. bow bow bow,” wrote another user for Boston. “My two favorites!!!!!” said a third. “KMac for the win,” commented another for Kayla.

The return of Clark to the Fever and Collier to the Lynx

Indiana is preparing to face Kelsey Plum’s Los Angeles Sparks on the road at Crypto.com Arena on Tuesday and extend its winning streak. Despite this, they will not have CC.

While Fever coach Stephanie White said the point guard’s recovery is “going well,” she has been ruled out once again before the game. This absence will mark the 17th regular season game she has missed this year.

Meanwhile, Napheesa Collier suffered a sprained right ankle during Saturday’s game against the Las Vegas Aces. The team announced on Monday that Collier will be out for a few weeks, meaning she will miss the game against the Seattle Storm at Climate Pledge Arena.
