The WBC orders Dmitry Bivol to defend his championship against Benavidez

Dmitry Bivol has become the most coveted boxer in the world in the last week. His future generates some intrigue among fans, as it is a sea of doubts, a trilogy with Artur Beterbiev, a rematch against Canelo Alvarez or a possible fight with David Benavidez

The Russian boxer does not close the door to anything, but “let me negotiate” is one of his phrases that he uses when he is already being put against a rival. By the way, when asked about a rematch against Canelo a few days ago, he was very blunt in saying that he would like it, unlike a few months ago when he did not seem very sure

Bivol is required to face Benavidez

According to the latest reports from ESPN, the WBC has informed Dmitry Bivol that he must fight David Benavidez to defend his light heavyweight title

The organization would be ordering this, as the ‘Mexican monster’ is the mandatory challenger in the rankings. It will be interesting to see what Bivol and his team have to say, as they will surely have been surprised by the WBC‘s demand. Especially since he has not been champion for a week and they are already sending him to defend his title with the Mexican-American.

Fans happy with WBC’s decision, but make a comparison….

Internet users did not take the news very well, and it is not about the fight itself, who would not want to see a Benavidez vs Bivol fight? The complaint is not going that way, but that the WBC did not pressure Canelo at the time to face the ‘Mexican monster’

“Bivol was immediately asked to fight Benavidez and Canelo never was.”

“Why didn’t the WBC act so quickly to name Benavidez mandatory for Canelo?”

“Only Canelo Alvarez is above good and evil in the boxing world.”

“How on this occasion do they order the mandatory challenger less than a week after the result? But at 168 the amount of months and said nothing, not even when the champion said that ‘he did what he wanted’. Barbarian, with what morals?”

These were some of the comments that could be read on X, so it seems that no one took the news well, as users have in mind the situation with Canelo a few years ago.
