The Golden State Warriors will officially bring back Seth Curry on Monday, December 1. During the preseason, he was part of the franchise, but they were forced to waive him due to the situation previously described.
At that time, the Warriors were dealing with salary-cap complications that prevented them from keeping him on the roster. Now that they are able to prorate his contract so it fits within the limit, he is returning and will take the 15th spot on the roster.
Curry had not been able to stay with the team, but he now rejoins his brother, Stephen, who did not play this past Saturday, November 29, against the New Orleans Pelicans due to injury; he had to settle for watching the game from the bench.
With his brother currently sidelined, Seth is expected to offer a meaningful contribution to the team’s offence. However, his exact role within the rotation has not yet been clearly defined.
Seth Curry’s path in the NBA
Last season, Seth Curry was 43.3% 3-point shooter and shot 45.6% from deep in 68 games with the Charlotte Hornets. The 35-year-old guard, now in his twelfth year in the league, has played for several teams without managing to establish himself long-term in a single franchise.
Now that he returns to the West Coast, this will mark the first time he plays alongside his brother in the NBA. Seth Curry has already worn the jersey of 10 different teams, and as he approaches the final stretch of his career, he hopes to remain for a few years next to his brother.
A significant win for the Warriors against the Pelicans
This past Saturday, November 29, the Golden State Warriors leaned on the talents of Jimmy Butler and Jonathan Kuminga, who delivered key plays that allowed the team to secure the victory.
Injuries have taken a toll on Steve Kerr’s squad, forcing him to make decisions he had previously resisted but that have now proven effective.
The team currently sits in eighth place in the Western Conference with an 11-10 record, and it hopes to continue climbing in a standings picture that is far from ideal. Their next game will take place on Tuesday, December 2, against the reigning champion, the Oklahoma City Thunder.
There is still no timetable for Stephen Curry’s return to the court, but with his brother now available, the team will be able to use him to help secure wins and continue improving their position within the conference.
