Boca Juniors are working against the clock to find a solution that will allow Ayrton Costa to enter the United States and play in the Club World Cup. The Xeneize team will make its debut on Monday against Benfica and it seems that it will not be able to count on the services of the central defender.

The United States has denied Costa’s visa application on at least two occasions. Boca maintains hope on two fronts: that the US embassy in Argentina will resolve its third request favorably or that FIFA will manage to unblock the situation by means of a temporary work permit for the player.

According to reports from Argentina, US immigration authorities have already denied Ayrton Costa entry in 2023, when the current Boca Juniors player was playing for Independiente.

Related in two cases

Costa appears in two court cases that could be behind the US refusal to grant him a visa. A robbery in which he is listed as a friend of the perpetrators and a gender violence murder in which his brother is the main accused and Costa was singled out as an accessory

None of the cases have progressed against him, but the US immigration service has so far not accepted his application for entry.
