The threat to Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark: French phenom dunks with power

Alicia Tournebrize announced her arrival as basketball’s next generational force during the FIBA U18 Women’s EuroBasket bronze medal game, stealing the ball and erupting through the lane for a thunderous two-handed dunk that left spectators and opponents gasping. At 6’4″ (194 cm), the French prodigy rewrote the spectacle of women’s basketball, drew comparisons to Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese.

Daughter of FIBA Hall of Famer Isabelle Fijalkowski (inducted 2020), Tournebrize blends elite genetics with relentless refinement. Her bronze-medal performance (19 points, 12 rebounds) extended France’s U18 podium streak while showcasing a skill set that mirrors Reese’s rebounding tenacity and Clark’s clutch scoring-but with a dunker’s audacity uniquely her own.

Crowned MVP of France’s U18 Cup at just 15 years old, she then dominated the 2024 FIBA U17 World Cup in Mexico, using her wingspan to disrupt offenses and finish through contact. Now training with Tango Bourges Basket’s senior team, her EuroLeague Women debut against Olympiacos in November 2024 confirmed she thrives against pros-a warning shot to the WNBA’s emerging rivalries.

Full Roster Fueling Fever’s Ascent

Just hours after a viral birthday tribute to boyfriend Connor McCaffery, Caitlin Clark electrified Gainbridge Fieldhouse-future host of the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game-with a 14-point, 13-assist masterclass against the Dallas Wings on July 13. Her court vision ignited Indiana’s offense in a decisive 102-83 victory, while defensive hustle produced five critical steals.

This marked Clark’s second game back after a five-game absence due to a left groin injury, contrasting sharply with her rusty 10-point performance against Golden State days earlier. Her orchestration of the Fever’s attack-showcased in seamless connections with Aliyah Boston (17 points)-cemented Indiana’s third straight win and lifted them above .500 (9-8) for the first time this season.

With Clark’s return solidifying Indiana’s lineup, the Fever have surged with back-to-back blowouts: a 17-point rout of Atlanta (99-82) followed by the 19-point dismantling of Dallas. Clark’s playmaking has elevated the team’s offensive efficiency, evidenced by her 13 assists against the Wings-the second-highest total of her career.

As the Fever climb standings ahead of the All-Star break, Clark’s leadership faces immediate tests against elite Eastern rivals: a home clash with the second-place Connecticut Sun (July 15) and a road battle against the third-place New York Liberty (July 16).
