The euphoria remains at its peak for the Seattle Seahawks players. And it is no surprise. They are the reigning NFL champions of the 2025 season. Their great defense, alongside an effective offense, was able to contain the New England Patriots from start to finish.

Then came the famous championship celebration parade through the streets of the city of Seattle, along with the speeches delivered by the players to their fans and teammates in recognition of their support throughout the year.

However, something caused a certain level of confusion among the fans who gathered in the streets to accompany their idols. The speech delivered by receiver Cooper Kupp left more than one person completely puzzled by what they heard.

The “oddities” of Cooper Kupp

The Seahawks receiver has displayed attitudes that for some might seem strange, although for him they were part of his continuous training to maintain a winning mindset at all times.

For example, in high school he used to place pulleys on his ankles so he would not lose strength, and he has that uncommon style of playing his position. Some coaches have even referred to that particular style as uncoachable.

And with this in mind, it is also present that his words would have to be strange and confusing for those who heard them.

Washington! How about them apples, huh?”… “Hey, thank you, guys, for embracing a kid, a couple of kids from Eastern Washington, from Yakima, to Tri-Cities. I appreciate you all.

Cooper Kupp

The Seahawks receiver expressed.

Everything was fine with what he said about Washington, since he is originally from that area, but what no one found related was the mention of apples.

Although perhaps he was referring to the fact that apples in Washington are very large and that it is the place where this fruit is produced the most in the United States. Between 60% and 63% of all the apples in the country come from Washington.

As for the phrase “how do you like them apples?” it is an expression that was used in the nineteenth century and has to do with someone attributing a victory over another.

The statistics of the Seattle Seahawks players in Super Bowl LX

  • Sam Darnold 19-38 passes for a gain of 202 yards, 1 TD and 0 interceptions
  • Kenneth Walker III 135 yards on 27 carries and 26 receiving yards
  • Cooper Kupp 6 receptions for 61 yards
  • AJ Banner 1 TD reception of 16 yards

Perhaps few understood Kupp’s message, but it did not matter, as it was all about continuing to enjoy the moment of victory.
