The statement from Steelers wide receiver Michael Pittman that worries Pittsburgh fans

The Pittsburgh Steelers are still waiting on clarity at quarterback, and recent comments from wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. highlight just how uncertain the situation remains.

Speaking on FanDuel TV, Pittman admitted he has had no contact with Aaron Rodgers as the veteran quarterback weighs his future.

“I don’t know nothing. I haven’t talked to Aaron,” Pittman said, adding that he is intentionally giving Rodgers space as he works through personal decisions with his family. While Pittman suggested he believes Rodgers still has the desire to play, the lack of communication underscores the uncertainty surrounding the Steelers‘ offense as the offseason progresses.

Rodgers’ the best option for the Steelers

Rodgers, coming off a strong 2025 season in which he led Pittsburgh to an AFC North title, remains the team’s best option under center heading into 2026. However, with no decision yet on whether he will return, the Steelers are left in a holding pattern as April approaches.

Pittman, who was acquired in a trade earlier this offseason, is adjusting to a new team, new system and potentially a new quarterback situation. Despite the ambiguity, he struck a patient tone, expressing confidence that the team can move forward regardless of Rodgers‘ decision. He pointed to Mason Rudolph and Will Howard as viable options already on the roster, emphasizing that the Steelers have contingency plans in place.

The uncertainty at quarterback is particularly notable given the team’s changes elsewhere. With Mike McCarthy now leading the offense, Pittsburgh is expected to lean more heavily on the passing game. That shift made the addition of Pittman essential, pairing him with DK Metcalf to form a physical and versatile receiving duo.

DK and Pittman could mean trouble for the rest of the NFL

Pittman expressed excitement about the partnership, noting Metcalf’s aggressive style and ability to stretch defenses. He also welcomed the opportunity to expand his own role in McCarthy‘s system after feeling limited at times during his tenure with the Indianapolis Colts.

Still, the effectiveness of that revamped offense ultimately hinges on who is delivering the football. Pittman made it clear he would welcome Rodgers back but also maintained a pragmatic outlook, saying he is ready to work with whoever lines up under center.

For now, the Steelers‘ offseason remains defined by patience. Pittman‘s comments reflect a team waiting on a decision that could shape its entire season, with Rodgers‘ timeline leaving one of the league’s most important positions unresolved.
