The Sky vs. Fever rivalry heats up: a Chicago strip club organises a Caitlin Clark impersonator contest

A Chicago strip club is putting a bold spin on WNBA fandom as it hosts a Caitlin Clark impersonator contest in the wake of Saturday’s Indiana Fever vs. Chicago Sky matchup.

Deja Vu Showgirls, an adult entertainment venue in the city, is offering a $500 prize to the winner of its Caitlin Clark lookalike competition.

The event is scheduled to take place immediately after the WNBA game, which has already drawn attention due to the budding rivalry between the Fever’s rookie star Caitlin Clark and Sky forward Angel Reese.

“Bring your best ponytail 3 point look and walk out with cash!” wrote club operator Mike Dickinson in an Instagram post promoting the event. Dickinson, who owns several adult venues, confirmed the contest will take place regardless of Clark’s playing status.

According to the club’s website, Deja Vu markets itself as offering “the hottest totally nude dancers and the best strip club experience in Chicago.”

Clark’s injury and ongoing media spotlight

Clark, who has quickly become one of the WNBA’s most marketable and talked-about figures, is not guaranteed to be on the court Saturday. The Indiana Fever announced on May 26 that she would miss at least two weeks due to a quadriceps strain.

If that timeline holds, Clark will be absent for the highly anticipated rematch with Angel Reese and the Sky, a dynamic that has already helped spike ticket sales and media attention around the league.

Even with Clark sidelined, her popularity remains at a peak. The former Iowa Hawkeyes standout has been at the center of a cultural moment since entering the WNBA, and businesses across the country – including adult entertainment venues – have taken notice.

The decision to theme a contest around her is a testament to her broad recognition across demographics.

The lookalike contest, while unusual, is likely to draw considerable attention, especially given Clark’s nationwide fame and the recent spike in interest surrounding the WNBA. Her viral highlights and headline-making clashes with fellow rookies like Reese have made her a household name far beyond sports fans.

Strip club taps into pop culture frenzy

Dickinson’s post on social media emphasized the timing of the event and its link to Clark’s scheduled appearance in the city: “This Saturday we know #caitlinclark @caitlinclark22 will be in #chicago for the #WNBA game between the #chicagosky and #indianafever – after the game Deja Vu Showgirls – Chicago @chicago_dejavu is having a $500 Caitlin Clark look alike contest!”

While the contest might not be endorsed by the league or Clark herself, it highlights just how far her influence reaches. Whether she plays or not, her name will be drawing crowds – both to the arena and to an unconventional postgame event in downtown Chicago.

Clark’s next possible return to the court is projected for June 10, when the Fever face the Atlanta Dream. In the meantime, her growing celebrity continues to inspire promotions of all types – some athletic, others entrepreneurial, and a few distinctly risqué.
