The side of Shohei Ohtani that no one knew: Furious and at odds with an umpire over a decision

The Los Angeles Dodgers are going through an unfortunate streak, with bad luck with injured players and to this must be added umpires against them. The incident occurred in the top of the sixth inning when Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Freddy Peralta had a count of three balls and two strikes against Shohei Ohtani.

After a slider, the ball landed slightly outside the left side of the strike zone. However, the umpire called the third strike, which meant that the Japanese player was struck out. In response to the call, Shohei Ohtani simply said “Nope” repeatedly, in disagreement with the decision. There was no fuss or anger in the Dodgers’ dugout. However, it was evident that the player was upset with a 7-0 scoreline at that point in the game.

The Los Angeles Dodgers’ losing streak

With their 9-1 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers on the road, the Dodgers have matched their worst streak so far this season with four straight losses (a three-game sweep by the Houston Astros and one more against Milwaukee). If they suffer another loss on Tuesday, July 8, the reigning MLB champions will record their worst losing streak.

This situation has occurred at the most critical moment for the California team, where they have a number of injured players, including Max Muncy and Kike Hernandez, plus a tremendous question mark with their starting pitchers where they have been inconsistent in their performance, and the relievers have not been able to stop the damage received from the first innings.

The end of the first half of the season for the Dodgers

The Los Angeles team will play games 2 and 3 against the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday, July 8 and Wednesday, July 9. They will then close out the first half of the season on the road against the San Francisco Giants from Friday, July 11 to Sunday, July 13. After that will come the midseason break to play the All-Star Game.

Despite a losing streak, the Los Angeles Dodgers remain atop the National League West with a 56-36 record, six games ahead of the San Francisco Giants and seven games ahead of the San Diego Padres.
