The San Francisco 49ers are going after Tyreek Hill and are willing to pay the price for the Miami Dolphins star

There’s no doubt that one of the biggest disappointments of last season was the San Francisco 49ers. After reaching the Super Bowl and nearly defeating Patrick Mahomes’ Kansas City Chiefs, 2024 turned out to be a complete disaster for Kyle Shanahan’s team, as they failed to make the playoffs.

San Francisco not only missed the postseason-they finished last in the NFC West and ended the season with four straight losses. There were several underperforming players, including DeeBo Samuel, injuries to Christian McCaffrey, and above all, an inconsistent season from quarterback Brock Purdy.

Now, San Francisco is aiming to bounce back. The 49ers have the easiest schedule in the NFL for 2025. According to their opponents’ combined 2024 win percentage (.415), it’s the lowest in the league-mainly because the 49ers finished last in the NFC West.

San Francisco has Tyreek Hill in mind

A few weeks ago, the 49ers signed quarterback Brock Purdy to a five-year, $265 million contract extension. They still have around $50 million in salary cap space, which means Tyreek Hill is a realistic option.

The situation is this: DeeBo Samuel went to the Washington Commanders, Brandon Aiyuk is recovering from a torn ACL, and Ricky Pearsall has suffered multiple hamstring injuries. So, San Francisco needs to look at the receiver market. And while Hill is still with the Dolphins, the 49ers have the resources to go after him.

Pro Football Talk analyst Mike Florio recently revealed that the Dolphins might be open to listening to trade offers for Hill. A few months ago, Miami GM Chris Grier said that to get Hill, a team would need to offer two first-round draft picks.

“It makes sense for the Dolphins to consider the opportunity to start fresh if someone calls,” Florio writes. “The only question is whether there’s another team interested in taking on Hill’s $25.85 million compensation package for 2025-and in giving the Dolphins what they’d need to part ways with a key player who may no longer believe he’s playing for a contender. And who may not truly believe quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is good enough to make the Dolphins into one.”

Tyreek Hill would give a major boost to the offense led by Brock Purdy, and with the favorable 49ers schedule we mentioned, it could be exciting to see the star receiver lighting it up in the Bay Area.
