The Raiders already lament the QB who excited Tom Brady-Now headed to the Dolphins

The ripple effects of Miami’s quarterback crisis have reached Las Vegas. After Tua Tagovailoa’s disappointing season with the Dolphins, the team made a desperate move-snatching one of the Raiders’ prized assets that Tom Brady himself had endorsed for the future.

The Dolphins endured one of the most inconsistent campaigns in the NFL. After stumbling to a 2-7 start, they rallied to finish 7-9 with one game left.

But Tagovailoa never found his rhythm. The six-year veteran was benched before Week 16 against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Rookie Quinn Ewers stepped in for that game and the following matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Still, Miami appears poised for a complete overhaul of its quarterback room.

The Dolphins’ steal from Tom Brady

On Sunday, the Dolphins announced on X (formerly Twitter): “We have signed QB Cam Miller to the active roster off the Las Vegas practice squad.”

The move was a gut punch for the Raiders. “Disappointing to lose him because we put a lot of time in, and he’s put a lot of time in here as well,” said interim offensive coordinator Greg Olson.

No one felt the sting more than Brady. The seven-time Super Bowl champion had personally endorsed Miller ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft.

“Brady liked the way Miller threw it, his technique, throwing from the ground up, and his motion,” explained Raiders general manager John Spytek. “He thought Miller had the potential to improve.”

The Raiders’ own quarterback woes

Miller’s departure comes at a precarious time for Las Vegas. Veteran Geno Smith took over in 2025 but failed to spark the offense.

Analysts now believe Smith is effectively out of contention, with Indiana Hoosiers phenom Fernando Mendoza expected to be drafted first overall to replace him.

The Raiders had envisioned Mendoza as QB1 with Miller as his backup-a foundation for the long-term rebuild fans have been craving. With Miller gone, that plan suddenly looks far less certain.
