The Los Angeles Dodgers are a team accustomed to shaking up the market, and it was at the MLB trade deadline where they sought to make a move that would have surely stunned fans and the league as a whole. At least, that’s what USA Today revealed, reporting that the team led by Dave Roberts was desperate to acquire outfielder Steven Kwan.
A player coveted by other teams
Within the Los Angeles organization, they viewed Kwan as the ideal replacement for Michael Conforto in left field, but unfortunately for the Dodgers, after intense hours of negotiations, they came up empty-handed.
Undoubtedly, the Cleveland Guardians player is a piece that can elevate any team, which is exactly why he was pursued by several squads like the New York Mets, Philadelphia Phillies, and San Diego Padres.
To the misfortune of these teams, including the Dodgers, the price for the multiple All-Star was too steep. The Guardians were asking for the number three prospect in the system, Leo De Vries, a player who ultimately was sent from San Diego to the Athletics in the deal for Mason Miller.
Steven Kwan ended up staying in Cleveland, which was a relief for Guardians fans, while the Dodgers, in turn, set their sights on Alex Call from the Washington Nationals, a player with respectable batting but far from the skills that a player like Kwan could bring.
